PORSCHE REVEAL LE MANS ANNIVERSARY LIVERY
Design of the three works Porsche 963 honours legendary liveries from Le Mans history
The renowned sports car manufacturer Porsche has unveiled its latest three LMDh hybrid prototypes for the highly anticipated 24 Hours of Le Mans. The three vehicles feature a unique and exclusive design with fifteen stripes in seven colours. The No. 75 car will compete in the Hypercar class at the 100th anniversary of the 24-hour race, marking an additional entry from Porsche.
The unique foil wrap for the three works race cars was revealed at the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC, held at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, just before the Le Mans dress rehearsal. The designers have carefully selected each colour to represent the rich Le Mans history of the Porsche brand. For instance, orange has been used to pay tribute to the legendary Gulf design of the Porsche 917 from the 1970s, while the pink stripe acknowledges the celebrated Porsche 917 from 1971. The green and light blue stripes are inspired by the 917 from 1970 and the iconic Martini design painted on the Porsche 936, amongst others. The dark blue stripe is a nod to the 'Rothmans' paintwork on the Porsche 956 from 1982 and 1983, while the vivid red commemorates the Salzburg-Porsche 917 from 1970. Lastly, a yellow stripe in the middle pays tribute to the Porsche RS Spyder.
This event marks a significant milestone for Porsche, as it connects two important anniversaries and celebrates the brand's rich heritage at Le Mans. Experienced WEC drivers will drive the No. 5 and No. 6 sister cars, while the No. 75 cockpit will be shared by Felipe Nasr, Nick Tandy, and Mathieu Jaminet. The attention to detail in the design of the prototypes is a testament to Porsche's commitment to excellence, and we can't wait to see these incredible vehicles in action at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
